How net metering works
A grid-connected solar inverter first supplies eligible loads at the property. Surplus generation can flow to the distribution network through a bidirectional meter, while grid electricity supplies the property whenever solar output is insufficient.
Billing treatment follows the current regulations and the consumer’s approved arrangement. A solar proposal should not promise a zero bill because fixed charges, taxes, seasonal generation and consumption patterns still apply.
Typical application journey
The usual journey includes feasibility review, application and documents, technical approval, installation, inspection, meter replacement or configuration, and commissioning. Exact steps and portals can change by DISCOM.
- Recent electricity bill and consumer details
- Identity and property documents requested by the DISCOM
- System specifications and single-line diagram
- Installer and commissioning documentation
Before choosing system size
Check sanctioned load, annual consumption, usable roof area and export rules before finalising capacity. Oversizing without understanding export settlement may weaken the economics.
Solaroof can prepare an indicative design and confirm the current DISCOM workflow after reviewing the property.
